By the slimmest-possible margin L.A. city council members were unable to override a first-ever veto from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

The mayor nixed a question headed to the November ballot that, if passed, would have given a future Los Angeles police chief the power to fire an officer for egregious conduct-- without pay, pending an arbitration hearing.
