The LA mayor's race just got a little more interesting. Karen Bass was one of two lawmakers to get a scholarship at USC's social work program valued at nearly $100,000.

The other was former county supervisor and LA city councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas who's now facing bribery and fraud charges along with the former dean of the social work program. The LA Times reported that prosecutors say Bass' scholarship is critical to their case but she is not under investigation. Bass denies allegations the scholarship she received has any relation to the Ridley-Thomas case. Darry Sragow is back with us. He's a political strategist and USC professor.
