As people get older, some might starting feeling a void in their life if they're single. The emphasis in their social life then becomes about meeting a romantic partner. 

That can come at the expense of meeting friends or nurturing the friendships that have already developed. There's growing research now that finds friends can lead to a healthy life and maybe platonic love is better for people than romantic love. Dr. Lauren Cook is a psychologist and founder at Heartship Psychological Services in Pasadena.
