A family is demanding justice after they say a homeless man attacked their parents in a McDonald’s drive-thru on LA's east side. The man was badly hurt and his wife is brain dead.  Emily Valdez has the story.

Hollywood lost an unquestionable legend of film and television today .... Donald Sutherland has died at the age of 88, after suffering through a long illness.

KNX chief correspondent Charles Feldman talked about Sutherland's unparalleled career with Variety awards editor Clayton Davis ... pointing out that, for all of Sutherland's lauded work ... he was never nominated for an Oscar.

Donald Sutherland, who kept on working in Hollywood up to the very end, is actually on this year's Emmy ballot, up for voting right now, for his role on the Paramount-plus series "Lawmen: Bass Reeves."

There are a lot of struggling actors, writers, directors and supporting crew members in Hollywood right now ... with a slowdown in film and television production that has now lasted for well over a year.

But managers, agents and lawyers are also hurting for business.

We checked in with Elsa Ramo ... she's an entertainment lawyer representing studios like Skydance, New Line and Imagine Entertainment.  

She said the slowing production hurts agents and managers just like their actor and writer clients.

Ramo tells us agents and managers could likely see the production slowdown coming before actors and writers.

She says that  managers and agents are turning to social media content creators.

But will that be steady and reliable work? ... It's too early to tell.

So far in 2024, box office revenues are down almost 25-percent compared to this time last year.

If, over these last four years, you've found yourself getting sick more often ... you've got a lot of sniffling, coughing company.

An analysis by Bloomberg News found surging rates of viral and bacterial infections since the COVID lockdowns were initiated in 2020.  These are illnesses both common and rare ... ranging from higher rates of influenza to whooping cough, dengue fever and the common cold.

So what's causing all of this ... and what's the relationship to the COVID pandemic?

KNX chief correspondent Charles Feldman put those questions and more to Dr. Joshua Michaud, associate director for global health policy at the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Many countries that managed to keep their COVID infection and death rates relatively low during the pandemic ... like Canada, Germany, Japan and Singapore ... are now experiencing levels of excess mortality from all of these viral infections.

Meanwhile countries that fared pretty poorly during COVID ... like Russia, Romania and Bulgaria ... are back to what's considered normal levels of viral infections.
