The California Assembly has passed a slate of bills dealing with the fentanyl crisis in the state.  

The legislation would do everything from require all public schools to keep  Narcan on campus ... to enhancing prison sentences for drug dealers who sell fentanyl.

Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher ... who had been critical of the Democratic majority for not cracking down hard enough on fentanyl ... tells KNX this is a step in the right direction.

On an average day in California, about 18 people die from overdosing on fentanyl or other synthetic opioids.
