Have Americans gone overboard on spoiling our pets?

There are an increasing number of veterinarians and animal behaviorists who argue that is, indeed, the case.

KNX chief correspondent Charles Feldman caught up with one such person ... University of Colorado animal ethicist Jessica Pierce ... and asked her if treating our pets like children can be harmful to their health and well being.

While more pets than ever before are in American homes ... there's a downside to our love of cats and dogs. More people are abandoning animals to animal shelters, leading to higher rates of euthanasia. 

In 2023, nearly 360,000 dogs were euthanized at shelters ... a five-year high.
