Ohio Governor's Race Erupts

California's 22nd District Race

The controversy centers on whether using a political opponent's estranged parent in campaign advertising crosses a line. Ramaswamy says the ad raises legitimate questions about Acton's credibility, while Acton and her supporters argue it weaponizes a painful history of childhood abuse in one of the nation's most closely watched gubernatorial races.

With more than $11.5 million already raised and outside groups closely watching the outcome, the Valadao-Villegas matchup is one of California's premier congressional contests. Valadao currently holds a fundraising and cash-on-hand advantage, while Villegas has spent aggressively to increase visibility in a race that could play an outsized role in determining which party controls the House after the election.
