Hey friends, it's Mr Gem and welcome back to Kids Short Stories. That day's story comes to us from Watson and Maggie. Hey guys, they sent us an awesome idea for a story, and you can too, to set over the kid short Stories dot com. Send me your idea and maybe we'll turn it into an awesome adventure. Are you guys ready for today's story? Me too, Let's go. Watson and Maggie were cleaning their bird cage. Yeah, they had a pet bird named Chirp, and it was time to clean out his home. That meant cleaning out the paper at the bottom and putting in some new food and changing the water. And they were really good at taking care of Chirp. Do you have a pet at home that you helped take care of? Yeah, that's that's a really important job to make sure that they have clean water and and food and maybe a place to go potty. Yeah. Pets are really fun to have and it's a really important thing to take care of and make sure that they're happy. Well, Watson and Maggie were both, like I said, changing out and cleaning their bird cage. Hey, Watson, can you grab the food I'm cleaning out? The paper. Watson ran over into the laundry room, which is where they kept some of the bird food, and grabbed a cupful and ran back to the cage. Maggie was cleaning out all the paper that had some poob on it. You, and also cleaning out the water that was Chirp. Chirp was a really pretty bird with lots of colors. Alright, Chirp, we're almost done, said Maggie. You're gonna have a nice clean home. Who You're gonna be so happy. Yeah, Chirp loved having a clean home, just like me. I like when my home is clean too. Oh ah, that's spilled everywhere. Watson rained back with the bird food and kind of spilled all over the floor and they were able to pick it up with their hands and put it back in the cage. But now their hands were all messy. All right, let's go wash our hands and then let's go play something, said Watson. Watson and Maggie both ran to the bathroom real quick to wash their hands. I'm so glad that our chores are done and Chirp's cage is clean. Now what are we going to do the rest of the day. Um, well, let's definitely go play outside, said Watson. Watson and Maggie finished washing their hands, and we're about to put on their shoes, and as they ran past Chirp's cage, they noticed, Oh no, shouted Watson. The doors opened, Chirp got out. Maggie and Watson couldn't believe it. They were running around the house looking everywhere, but Chirp was nowhere to be found. Where did he go? He's never gotten out before, said Maggie. Somehow Chirp had escaped. Their favorite pet bird was now missing. All right, we have got to search everywhere the whole house. Let's go. They now started searching in all the places that you know sure probably wouldn't be because you know, wouldn't you lose something? You look everywhere, right, Yeah, you first look in all the places that it might be, and then you kind of get desperate and you look at all the places that might not even make sense, but maybe, just maybe it will be there. But Chirp was definitely missing. As they ran upstairs to check all the rooms, they noticed that one of the windows was cracked open. Their parents had opened that window to let some fresh air in. But oh, I think Chirp had escaped. Oh no, do you think Chirp got outside, said Maggie. Oh no, I think so. He's always wanted to go outside. He always gets so excited him. We opened the windows and he looks from his cage and oh, we've got to find him. He's not from around here, he's from the rainforest. We've got to help find him fast. Yeah. Chirp was a bird that was not from where Watson and Maggie lived, and so he was not familiar with the creatures or trees or anything around here. They had to save him as soon as possible. Watson and Maggie finished putting on their shoes and ran outside. Chirp, where are you? Shouted Watson. They listened very closely and didn't hear a single sound. Oh no, all right, we gotta spread out, Maggie. You go that way, I'm gonna go this way. They lived in a neighborhood where there were a lot of houses, and as they ran down the sidewalk in both directions, they looked in all the trees. Nothing. Chirp was nowhere to be found. Okay who Watson had ran all the way down his street. He had searched every single bush, every single tree, still nothing, and all of a sudden he heard a sound. MEO, oh, hey, kitty, hey kitty. That was miss Emma's kitty. Miss Emma lived down here and she had a very friendly kitty. But what are you doing over here? Now? The cat was looking like he was trying to climb up this tree. And then all of a sudden, Watson heard a sound. Chirp. Is that you chirp? Chirp? Was stuck high up that tree that miss Emma's kitty was trying to climb up. Oh no, Maggie. Maggie shouted Watson as loud as he could. Maggie, Watson, what's going on? Did you find him? Yeah, he's in this tree, but you gotta stop miss Emma's kitty from getting up there. I think it's trying to get our pet bird. Here, kitty kitty, said Maggie. This kid, he was a very friendly kitty. I think he was just curious as to what bird was in that tree. And the kitty crawled over to Maggie and rolled on her back as Maggie pet the kiddy's belly. All right, I'm gonna climb this tree and see if I can reach Chirp. Watson started to climb up the tree. Branch, my branch. He got higher and higher up and oh ouch, one of the branches cracked a little bit and he slipped. But good thing he was holding onto the other branches with his hands, so we didn't fall out. All right, Chirp, come here, come here, Come here. Chirp hopped along the branch back towards Watson. Chirp, there you are, come here. Chirp popped right into Watson's hand as he hopped down from the tree. All right, we gotta get this crazy bird back home. Let's go. Watson and Maggie quickly rushed home, holding Chirp tightly to their chest as they ran inside and put Chirp back in his nice clean cage and very carefully closed and locked the door so that he wouldn't get out. Who. Watson and Maggie looked at each other. That was crazy. I can't believe that Chirp got away. Yeah, and I can't believe that Miss Emma's cat almost ate him, well, probably not ate him, but definitely scared him. Who. What a crazy day that Watson and Maggie had chasing after Chirp. The bird that escaped that day. Now, I think they're gonna be a lot more careful when they clean out Chirp's cage to make sure that that doesn't happen again. The end. Wow, great job.
