About Mr. Jim:

Hi! I'm Jim Jacob, a South Carolina based creator. I started as a podcaster by accident. Our first real episodes on the internet were me trying to find a solution to help tell my sons stories as I was traveling for work. I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. My wife Jocelyn and I have 3 kids and love inspiring others towards greater imagination and curiosity.

Hey, friends, it's mister Jim and welcome back to Kid Short Stories. Do you know what makes these stories ten times more awesome?

Yes?

Sharing with a friend. So right now, I want you to think of two friends that you think you could share this episode two and have your parents text them the link to the show, and then you guys can listen to it together. Holy smokes, are you guys ready for this one? This idea came from Nicholas. Oh boy, this is gonna be quite the adventure. Let's go. It was a rainy Sunday morning as Nicholas and his brother Logan were playing a game upstairs and having a lot of fun. It's kind of fun to have a rainy day every once in a while, right yeah, where you can cozy up in some blankets and maybe play a game or play with your toys. What kind of games do you like to play? Nicholas and Logan were playing a card game, which was really fun. I love to play card games and board games or puzzles. All those things are perfect things to do on this rainy day.

Except today's rainy day was.

About to take a very very big turn. Go fish, said Logan. Oh man, said Nicholas. He reached down and picked up a card out of the pile.

All right, do you have any threes?

Said Logan. Mmm, yep, here's two of them. Yes, Hey, are you guys up there, shout at their dad. Yeah, we're up here playing a card game. What's up, said Nicholas. Would you do me a Humong's favorite and run out to the mailbox and get the mail for me?

Said their dad.

I have your rain jackets and boots already. Yes, that sounds awesome, Nicholas and Logan said at the same time. They raced over to where their dad was holding their rain jacket and boots. They hurriedly put them on and opened the door. The only sound waiting for them outside was the sound of the rain splashing into puddles on the street. Nobody was outside, no cars were driving. It was completely silent, only the rain. Wow, it sounds just like our sound machine, said Nicholas.

It does.

It's totally the same thing, said Logan. Well, let's go get the mail.

Come on.

They splashed and splashed their way towards the mailbox. They opened up a very squeaky mailbox door, grabbed the mail and carefully shoved it underneath their ring jackets so that male wouldn't get wet.

When all of a sudden, they heard a.

Sound boom boom boom. What was that, said Logan. It was probably just some lightning and thunder, said Nicholas.

I didn't see any lightning.

They heard was those three big booms, said Logan. Hey, yeah, but it's the middle of a storm's I'm sure it's just thunder or something, said Nicholas. Come on, let's go back to the house. They splished and splashed their way, stepping in every puddle on their way back to the house.

You know, when you're wearing.

Rain boots and a rain jacket, gotta take advantage and walk in the puddles, right, But then they heard it again, boom boom boom, but this time they could see the puddles. It vibrated like those booms were so loud the ground shook. I told you that's not thunder, said Logan. Nicholas looked around. I think you're right, Logan. What could that be? It sounded like a like a dinosaur walking, said Nicholas. Let's run up to our room and look out the window, said Logan. They ran towards the door and open it up.

Oh, thanks for getting the mail.

Wait, whoa slow down, Slow down, said their dad.

Here here's the mail. We gotta go upstairs.

Nicholas and Logan hurriedly dropped off their boots and rain jackets and ran to their room so they could look out the window to see where those giant booms were coming from. It's so hard to see out the window, though, said Logan. Their windows had gotten very foggy. You know, sometimes when it rains, the condensation appears up on the windows and it's hard to look outside. Er Er Nicholas took his hand and wiped off the fog from the window so that they can get a better look. They pressed their eyes up against the glass. It's like we gotta stop breathing, said Nicholas, Even our breath fogs up the window. They both held their breath and looked closely against the window, looking for any kind of movement. And that is when they saw it. Off in the distance towards downtown was some kind of ginormous, very long creature. It was too far away to understand exactly what it was, but he was definitely some.

Kind of monster.

They ran over to their closet to grab their walkie talkie for HQ. Sh HQHQ. This is Nicholas and Logan. Come in over.

Sh Nicholas, Logan, how is it going? Is there a problem?

Sh? Yes, yes, yes.

From our window, we could see some kind of I don't know, purple monster.

I don't know else to say it.

It kind of looks like a ginormous hot dog, but it's kind of hard to say.

Sh.

Did you say a ginormous purple hot dog?

Sh?

I know that sounds ridiculous, but that's kind of what we're seeing right now out the window.

What should we do?

Sh?

We're gonna need you to head downtown and take a closer look to verify exactly what it is, so we can formulate a plan together. Send us the coordinates and keep us updated. Over and out sh.

Nicholas and Logan looked at each other. They couldn't believe it. It was, in fact some kind of purple monster moving around downtown, and it did look like a giant hot dog and a bun, but there's no way it could be that, right. They grabbed all their spy gear, put on their rubber boots again in their rain jacket, and their dad walked over and said, Oh, are you two headed back outside in the puddles again? Oh no, it's much more serious than that, said Nicholas. Spy Te needs us. There's some kind of purple monster downtown. Is that what it making all those really loud boom sounds? Said their dad. We're pretty sure it is, said Logan. Will you two be safe and good luck, said their dad. Meanwhile, up high in the clouds, there was an evil doctor laughing in his purple stinky blimp. Purple Ninjas, I love the ginormous purple stinky hot dogs that you created. This city has no idea what we have in store for them, is that right?

Yes, boss, looks like everything's going according to plan. Pretty sure. Not only will this ginormous purple hot dogs scare everybody, but it will begin squirting. It's very stinky ketchup sauce everywhere, which you know what that means, right.

Of course, I do, Pepper Ninjas.

I cannot wait to see how this blen comes to help us take.

Off of the world.

Oh no, it sounds like the Purple Ninjas and doctor sinky breath are behind that ginormous thing that Nicholas and Logan have spotted off in the distance.

What in the world is going to happen?

I'm not sure, but we're gonna have to wait and see what happens on the next episode of Kids Short Stories.

Great job, you listened all the way to the end, and you know what time it is. It's time for Kurd shout out.

So I want to say hey to Wand from Germany, Mabel from New Jersey, Judah from Alabama, Eliza from Raleigh, North Carolina, Andrew from Puerto Rico, Jaana from Ontario, and Markshi from New Jersey. I'm so glad that you're all in the Kid Chartstory's family and on the spy team. We could not stop Doctor Stinky Breath and his crew without you, my friends. Well, you have a super duper day and I will see you on our next adventure.

Bye.
