Hey guys, they sent me an awesome idea for a story, and you can too. Just head over to Kids Short Stories dot com. Send me your idea and maybe we'll turn it into an awesome adventure. Are you guys ready for a time traveling adventure and finding a dinosaur fossil in their backyard? Holy smokes me too. Let's go. One day, Jason Kinsley were playing outside. It was a beautiful day and the sun was out and there was a nice cool breeze and they were playing in the sandbox. Is it so fun to play in sand? Yeah? I like to dig holes and build sand castles. What if you were building a sandcastle, what is the most important part of the sand castle? I think building a big moat around the sand castle is the most important part. But Jason Kinsley, they were building a ginormous city with a whole bunch of different houses and roads that they could drive their cars on. Look Out, I'm bringing a load of sand to dump, said Jace. Jason was driving a truck through his road in the sandbox and had to dump a big pile of sand. Kinsley was working on the other side of town building a whole bunch of houses. Hey, Jason, could you pass me that shovel over there, said Kinsley. H Yeah, here it is. Jas handed her the shovel and they began to dig. They were trying to to see how deep the sandbox was could go, and and after they had built all the roads in the homes, now it was a good time to do that. All right, I'm almost there there. Kinsley had pretty deep, deeper than they ever had gone before in the sandbox, and pretty soon the sand ran out and they unk. The shovel knocked on a big rock. WHOA that sounded weird, said Jason. Yeah, I've never heard listen, And she kept poking the rock with the shovel. It made a very strange sound, and they cleared all the sand around it, and wait, what is that? There's like some markings in the rock, but it was still pretty dirty. Let's clean it off. They cleared off the rest of the sand around the rock. The rock was about as big as their hand, a little bigger. And wait, wait, brush that off, clean it off, quick, quick, quick, said Kinsley. As they brushed off the sand, we got some water and cleaned it off. And holy smokes, are you do you think that is what I think it is? Said Jason. It's a dinosaur footprint, said Kinsley. They both could not believe their eyes. Have you ever seen a dinosaur footprint in a rock before? Me? Neither? That's so cool that Jason Kinsley found that. Well, I wish I had that in my sandbox. All right, we gotta bring it inside. Let's take a look at it. Jason Kinsley pulled it out of the dirt and it was pretty heavy, but they had to get a closer look at it. As they carried it over into the light and brought it inside. They put it on the table and wow, that is so cool, said Jason. I know. Does that mean, like a long time ago, that a real dinosaur used to live in our backyard? Said Kinsley? Yeah, that's I think that's exactly what that means, said Jason. Yeah, did you guys know that do you know how fossils form on rocks? Yeah, a long, long, long, long, long, long, long long time ago, when dinosaurs walked around here. You might have walked in your bear in your backyard. And when they step in mud or dirt, sometimes after a long, long, long, long long time, that mud and dirt turns into a rock and it keeps that footprint stuck inside that rock like a mold. Yeah, it's so cool. All right, what do we do with this? We? This is really cool? Said Kinsley. I wish we could go back in time and see what dinosaur this was that lived in our backyard. That would be so coold. Wait a second, doesn't grandpa have a time machine? Said Jason. Yeah, but he never. Let's let's use it like it's it's not a toy. It's Yeah, but what if we could go back in time to our backyard and see what dinosaur this was coming from? That would be insanely cool? Said Jason. We have to ask. Jason Kinsley ran over to their grandparents house they lived pretty close. As they knocked them on the door, the grandpa answered the door. Oh, why hello there, how are you guys doing? We're doing great, Grandpa? You won't believe this. Look at this. Jason held up the rock that had the dinosaur footprint on it. That is so cool. How did you guys find that? They went on to tell their grandpa about the sandbox in their backyard and this footprint fossil, and and then they asked, Grandpa, do you think that we could go in your time machine? We really want to see what dinosaur lived in our backyard a long time ago? Please please? Please? Oh, I don't know. It's not a joy and it's a little dangerous, and but all right, I will come with That would be super Oh, let's go. Jason Kinsley closely follow their grandpa down to the basement and walked inside the time machine. Their grandpa had this time machine for a very long time, but it was only used on very special occasions. It was not a toy. Wait, hold on a second, what would you do if you had a time machine? I? Oh, man, there's so many things that I would want to see, and dinosaurs is definitely on the list. Well, Jason Kinsley and their grandpa climbed in and three two one woe. Kinsley was holding on and Jace was closing his eyes, and their grandpa was smiling from ear to ear. He had been looking forward to a day that he could go on a time traveling adventure with Jason Kinsley, and this was the perfect time. As they ailed through time all the way back to dinosaur Land, they landed in their backyard with a thud. Oh are we here? Open the door, quick, quick, quick, said Kinsley. Jason was the first to pop his head out of the door and look, whoa, this looks awesome. Jason Kinsley ran outside and started to look around. This is amazing and a little scary. Everything looked different. It did not look like their backyard. There were huge boulders and the trees were very different. It all looked very strange. Alright, kids, well you gotta stay close. Okay. If that dinosaur is gonna walk around here, then we'll just stay put and wait for him to walk by, said their grandpa. It didn't take long as they were sitting there waiting as stegosaurs m M came walking by and squished in a big pile of mud. There is Jason Kinsley were pointing at where he stepped. That is the footprint that we just found. That's so cool. It was a steackasaurs I had no idea, said Jason. Wow, that was so cool. Could you imagine finding something like a dinosaur fossil and then being able to go back in time and watch it actually happen. Yeah, they're pretty lucky. Well, Jason Kinsley and their grandpa climbed back and in the time machine and sailed back to their grandpa's basement. Wow, Grandpa, thank you so much. That was such an awesome adventure, said Kinsley. Oh you're welcome. M Let's uh, why don't you let me know another time that you want to go on a time traveling adventure? And I think we can make it happen again. And that was the beginning of Jason Kinsley's time traveling adventures with their grandpa. The end, Wow, great job, you listened all the way to the ending.
