The tree that gives the knowledge of good and evil. Before this story, we learned about the creation of Adam and Eve made in the image of God and how God placed them to live in the garden of Eden to take care of it. Now we will learn more about the Tree of Life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and Adam and Eve's temptation to choose against God inspired by the Book of Genesis.

Today we're going to ara Bible's story about a crafty serpent who tempted Adam and Eve and the sad choice they made to disobey God. It's the moment that sin entered in to God's perfect creation, and it's all true. So let's get started.

Adam and Eve were both naked, but they weren't even embarrassed or ashamed because they were obedient and trusted God's word. There was a crafty serpent in the garden where Adam and Eve lived and said, did God.

Really tell you not to eat from any tree here? Eve said, God said you shouldn't eat the fruit from the tree that gives the knowledge of good and evil. He said that eating the fruit of that tree, that I would be.

Sure to die. The serpent told Eve, you will not certainly die. God just knows that if you eat this fruit, you will be like him. Eve thought, the fruit looked tasty and wanted to be like God deep in side of herself, so she took a bite of the fruit. She walked to Adam and gave him the fruit and said, Adam, taste. Adam saw the fruit and thought it looked tasty, so he bit it too. Immediately after eating the fruit, they noticed that they were naked and were embarrassed, so they tried to make clothes out of leaves. God was walking through the garden when Adam and Eve heard him. They ran away and hid. God called Adam, where are you. Adam said, we're here, but we're naked and we are afraid and didn't want you to see us. God then asked Adam, who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree. Adam was scared and blamed Eve, saying it was the woman you gave me. She's the one who made me eat the fruit.

God looked at Eve and he said, Eve, what have you done?

And she blamed the serpent, saying it was the serpent it deceived me. So God said to the serpent, because of this, you are cursed and will crawl and eat dust the rest of your days. And that one day a son of Eve would crush your head. Then God said to Eve on having a child is going to be very, very painful, and also your husband will lead over you. Then he turned to Adam and said, because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree, I commanded not to You're going to have to grow your own food.

Now.

There will be weeds that you will have to pull out, and thorns that will scratch you, and until you turn into dirt. You will have to work every day for the rest of your life to earn your food. Even though Adam and Eve broke the command that God gave them, God made them clothes because he loved them. God said, humans now know about good and evil like we do, so it is best they also do not take from the Tree of life and live forever. So God banished Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden and put an angel with a fiery sword to keep them away from the Tree of Life forever.

It's kind of hard to hear sad stories like that, isn't it. Everything God had made was perfect, and best of all, Adam and Eve enjoyed a perfect relationship with God. But then sin ruined everything. Do you know what sin is? Sin? Is when we choose to disobey God. It's the bad stuff we do, or even the bad stuff we think or say that makes God sad and separates us from him. And when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin came into our world. It's a horrible sickness that spread across God's good creation. Why would Adam and Ev do that? Why would they choose to disobey God? When I think those thoughts, I have to remind myself that I sin too. I do things that make God sad. And that's why we need God's forgiveness. Because the truth is, we all sin, we all disobey God. That's why it's such good news that God still loves us. And even way back in the garden of Eden, he had a plan to heal our sick hearts. But we're getting ahead of ourselves in the story, So let's go back to the garden and talk about the serpent who tempted Adam and Eve. Now, this sneaky serpent in the garden wasn't just any snake. It was God's greatest enemy, called Satan. Satan was once a beautiful angel created by God. At first he loved God, but then his heart changed and filled up with anger and hate. Instead of worshiping God, Satan wanted to be God. Of course, you and I know that there's only one God and no one else can take his place. So God had to send Satan away. But that wasn't the end of it. Satan hated everything God did and everything God made, so when he saw God's good creation and how much God loved his people he made, Satan wanted to direct and ruin it all. That's when he told Eve the worst lie anyone can ever believe. Satan told Eve that God didn't really want what's best for her, and it worked. Eve disobeyed God and ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil. Then Adam ate it too. They both disobeyed God. Suddenly, Adam and Eve he felt ashamed. For the first time in all creation, they knew they had done something wrong. They were scared and sad and embarrassed and angry all at once. Adam and Eve also realized they were naked, that they made clothes out of leaves, like they wanted to hide themselves. Have you ever felt that way when you did something wrong, that you just wanted to hide? Yeah, me too. Sin does that it makes us want to run from everything and everyone, especially God. But we don't have to run away from God. We can run to him. But they didn't do that. When God came into the garden looking for Adam and Eve, they hid. Can you imagine how that broke God's heart. He knew what had happened, and he knew what would happen next. God told Adam and Eve that because of sin, nothing in creation will work the way it was meant to. Getting food would be hard, having children would be hard, and getting along with each other would be hard. It's like the world was broken. But God didn't leave us without hope. He showed his love for Adam and Eve by making them better clothes than what they could have made for themselves. And best of all, God revealed that he had a plan to fix his broken creation. He said that one day, a special child, a son, would come along and defeat Satan once and for all. This son would save the world, set everything right again, and heal our broken hearts from sin. I wonder if you know the name of his son, Yep, Jesus. The Bible says that just like how Adam and Eve's disobedience plunged the whole world and to sin. So would Jesus's obedience on the cross make a way for us to be able to be right with God again. I'm so happy you came to hang out with me today.
