A local music production company called Hitchat Entertainment, focused on empowering talent from townships and disadvantaged communities, has officially launched a new T-pop girl band: 4IAM.

Having auditioned and gone through a rigorous selection process, 4IAM consists of Annie, PHX, Doli, Grace, Giselle and Nokwanda.

The six-women powerhouse is re-writing what it means to be a “girl band” in South Africa, with their genre-redefining sound of T-Pop, short for Township Pop. The band name 4IAM is an acronym for the 4th Industrial Age Music.

On Friday, 18 June 2021, they dropped their inaugural single – ‘Legends’ – and Carl Wastie gave all 6 ladies a call the very next day on the multiple-award-winning chart show.

Joseph Linley, is stepping onto the music scene with his debut single, I’m with you, out now! With an honest, heartfelt approach and a touch of “main character energy,” twenty-six-year-old Joseph’s dynamic debut promises to connect with listeners.

 “The concept for I’m with you came to me a few years ago when I saw people I cared about who were hurting,” Joseph explains. “I wanted them to know that, even though I couldn’t fix things, I was standing with them.”

If you’re wondering where you’ve seen that surname before, Will Linleywould be the correct answer. Will is not only Joseph’s younger brother but also one of the songwriters on the single.

In terms of sound, they drew inspiration from the opening scene of the movie Drive, crafting a soundscape that’s atmospheric and immersive, with just the right touch of edge.

South African musician and producer Pixie Whip releases her latest single, Spirited Boy,  on February 7, 2025.

From her forthcoming EP “Mood Butterfly” (due for release in April 2025), the track is a tribute to the divine masculine—an energy that embodies both softness and strength, bringing healing and gratitude to her life.

"I wanted to write a love song rooted in deep gratitude," Pixie Whip explains.

 "This song is about someone who offered me a sense of healing. Sometimes, we meet people who help us rewrite our understanding of love, and I wanted to celebrate that."
