MasterChef South Africa contestant Mahlatse Mangatane, a 23-year-old culinary student from Limpopo, may have exited the competition, but he leaves behind a strong impression as the season’s youngest and one of its most passionate cooks. Known for his love of baking - sparked at just 12 years old - Mahlatse studies hospitality at Capricorn TVET College and has already earned national recognition as a second runner-up in the WorldSkills National Bakery competition.
His journey on the show showcased his creativity and flair, including a standout chocolate challenge win that earned him R50,000. Despite his elimination following a difficult rice challenge, Mahlatse remains focused on his dream of opening his own bakery and making his family proud.
