Submissions on the Arms Regulations Review of Fees discussion document are currently being taken.
Essentially, the submissions are based around the administering of gun licenses and other regulations surrounding the ownership of use and firearms.
In many cases, police are proposing to raise fees from a few $100 to over $1000, and also apply fees to activities that have required no charges previously.
Police are now proposing that collectors pay a fee of $1,100 for permission to remove a restricted firearm from their home to display at a public show or club event.
That would mean, according to some, the end of public displays or military re-enactments by private collectors with their heritage firearms.
One of those affected would be the annual Cambridge Armistice Day celebrations, which involves battle re-enactments.
