You Made Me This Way - how to best help victims of child sexual abuse with Shannon Molloy

View descriptionShare

This is the 14th episode of Keeping Kids Safe - A Bright Futures podcast by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, featuring Bruce and Denise Morcombe.

In this episode we speak to Shannon Molloy, whose book You Made Me This Way is giving voice to victim survivors of child sexual abuse.

It’s been described as a genre-defying feat of storytelling, and a powerful personal investigation into trauma, hope and healing. Part memoir and part investigation into the taboo topic of male child sexual abuse, You Made Me This Way gives voice to the many victim survivors who never speak about their past and hide away their shame, encouraging us all to have more open conversations about what systemic changes are needed to better protect children into the future.

It's time for difficult conversations to shine light on this hidden topic. This podcast talks openly about child abuse, child sexual abuse, child sexual exploitation and harmful sexual behaviours.

Each episode of this series will feature practical insights on how to teach your child safety in the world today.

REMINDER: As Denise says in the podcast - Take care when listening. Please contact Lifeline if you need support after listening to this, on 13 1114 or you can call 1800 Respect.
