Former Allegheny County coroner Cyril Wecht died today at the age of 93. The pathologist became nationally known as a vocal critic of the Warren Commission report on the assassination of President Kennedy. The Squirrel Hill resident served as county coroner from 1970 until 1980 and county commissioner from 1980 until 1984. in a 2020 interview, Dr. Wecht told KDKA Radio's Larry Richert why he wanted to be a pathologist:
