Why it's so difficult for kids and young adults to access the mental healthcare they need

There is an ongoing mental health care provider shortage affecting children and young adults across the United States. A 2016 report projects a deficit of more than 10,000 psychiatrists, mental health counselors, and school-based counselors and psychologists across the country by the year 2025. That number has already swelled to 7800 today.
