Many expected that students were going to be affected by all those pandemic-caused school closures, but new research shows that students this past year even declined from the year before, demonstrating just how lasting the effects from the pandemic have been on students.

Educators are now tasked with the mission of how to fix this, as they continue to try and play catch up in the country's classrooms.

To answer those questions on today's "Ask an Expert," KCBS Radio's Eric Thomas and Margie Shafer spoke with Meg Honey, ethnic studies and history teacher at Northgate High School and adjunct faculty member at Saint Mary's College and University of the Pacific.
