Carbon Run—a startup building a machine aiming to capture carbon using the water—says the technology is relatively simple and that our natural waterways do most of the work.

The list has ruled the university hierarchy for decades, but now, experts in the field are questioning how the rankings are decided and how much they help those trying to decide on their educational next steps.
