Virginia lawmakers have finally passed the Equal Rights Amendment...38 years after the original deadline for ratification. 

Virginia is the 38th state to ratify the amendment which is the magic number for qualifying the amendment for inclusion in the  Constitution.

But is it too late?

The next time you're grocery shopping, you may want to consider buying some of the staple products as organic. 

That's because a recent study from Consumer Reports finds nearly one in five of ALL fruits and vegetables Americans eat carry an unhealthy dose of dangerous pesticides, raising red flags on food safety in the nation.

But researchers say opting into the organic version of common items like blueberries, bell peppers, potatoes, can mitigate the risk.

Utility bills in California are skyrocketing, and state legislators gathered in Sacramento today to vote on a crackdown on how some of the nation's largest utilities spend customers' money. 

Utility companies aren't allowed to use money from customers to pay for advertising or lobbying, but some consumer groups allege they are finding a loophole.
