Rise in suicide reported for those 45 and older

New data shows that more people than ever before died by suicide last year, with the most significant increases being seen in those 45 and older. 

This comes as mental health has been coming more and more to the forefront of our public discourse with still a long way to go in terms of how we talk about it.

For more, Margie Shafer and Eric Thomas spoke with Mark Kaplan, Professor of Social Welfare at UCLA. He focuses on using population-wide data to understand suicide risk factors among vulnerable populations.
