"The Secret Song" is a documentary that tells the story of a life-long musician and music teacher in San Francisco in his final year teaching after a 45 year run. It also happened to be the year the pandemic thrust schools into the uncharted waters of remote learning. The film follows him as he finds new ways for his students to connect, learn and perform.
For more, KCBS Radio's Liz Saint John spoke with Doug Goodkin, the subject of the film. Doug Goodkin is an internationally recognized Orff Schulwerk teacher, training music teachers in over 50 countries worldwide. He worked with children in The San Francisco School for 45 years and continues working as a consultant, mentor, guest teacher, workshop leader and performer in schools locally, nationally and internationally. He is the author of ten books and is featured in the documentary film "'The Secret Song" that is screening on Monday, August 28th at 7pm at the Showplace Icon theatre in Mountain View as part of the Cinequest Film Festival.
