The Park Fire, burning northeast of Chico in Butte and Tehema counties, has exploded overnight. CalFire says the blaze has now torched more than 164,000 acres and containment is only at 3%.

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan says he welcomes Governor Newsom’s call to ramp up homeless sweeps, but that it’s crucial that the entire region work together in solving the problem.

New reporting from The Oaklandside says former Police Chiefs LeRonne Armstrong and Darren Allison should be disciplined for failing to examine accusations of perjury and bribery against a homicide detective. 

The Park Fire, burning more than 164,000 acres across Butte and Tehama counties, is also creating some weather of its own in multiple towering fire tornadoes.
