View descriptionShare

It's time now for Ask An Expert. Every weekday at 9:20 am on KCBS Radio, we're giving you direct access to top experts in various fields.

Today: We're seeing swaths of protests breaking out on college campuses across the country, with pro-Palestine and pro-Israel demonstrators clashing over the conflict in the Middle East and University investment in Israel.

But protesting isn't new to Americans or to college campuses, which have long served as the backdrop to some of the most famous political movements in recent history.

To take a look back at the history of protests in this country, KCBS Radio news anchors Margie Shafer and Eric Thomas spoke with Ralph Young, History Professor at Temple University. He's an expert on dissent and protest movements in America and the author of Dissent: The History of an American Idea.
