The National Marine Fisheries Service issued the first fifty commercial fishing permits using deep-set buoy gear this week. Recent state and federal laws began a phase out of large-mesh drift gill-nets that often entangle, injure, and kill whales, sea turtles, dolphins and other marine life.

A federal judge decided on Friday that California's ban on magazines holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition is unconstitutional., claiming it violates the Second Amendment. 

Attorney General Rob Bonta plans to seek a stay and appeal the decision to the 9th US Circuit Court in San Francisco.
