When you come across an abandoned building, many people think of horror movies, but oftentimes there's a great deal of history attached to the barren structure.

That's especially the case for the untouched property in San Francisco's Hayes Valley that's all fenced off and cared for, maintaining its rich history dating back to the 19th century as the city changes with time.

High mortgage rates and the short supply of homes have compounded to make buying a home unaffordable.
