Predating the founding of Rolling Stone, SOUL was the first publication to feed the growing appetite for information about Black artists even before Rolling Stone and Creem for that matter. It featured artists like Marvin Gaye, Carla Thomas, and the Isley Brothers.
And now, the magazine is getting a second life in the form of a digital archive.
