Reverend Cecil Williams, activist and co-founder of GLIDE Memorial Church and Foundation, has died. He was 94.
Williams became the reverend at GLIDE in 1963. Under the leadership of Williams and his late partner, Janice Mirikitani, the church became a beacon of care, inclusion and activism in San Francisco, welcoming and serving all walks of life.
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown was a longtime colleague and friend of Williams. He spoke with KCBS Radio's Bret Burkhart and Patti Reising about his passing and legacy.
