San Francisco Chronicle and KCBS Radio Outdoors Editor Tom Stienstra details the new California Boaters Card that boat operators 35 and under will be required to have beginning January 1st. 

California Boater Card

Dates: Starting Jan. 1, those 35 years old and younger are required to have the card to drive a boat in 2019. Requirement expand to 40 or younger in 2021, for those 45 or younger in 2022, for those 50 or younger in 2023, for those 60 or younger in 2024, and for all ages in 2025.

Cost: $10, good for life.
