For decades, immigrants have been moving to small towns and rural areas at an increasing rate, accounting for nearly 40% of the overall rural population growth from 2000-2018. Over two million migrants and immigrants work in jobs growing and processing food in the United States, playing an essential role in feeding Americans. The work is often grueling and jobs can be dangerous. These workers are also among the lowest paid with little to no access to healthcare.
