Hundreds of Thousands of People to Lose Federal Food Assistance

View descriptionShare

In an effort to encourage self-sufficiency and save taxpayer money, the Department of Agriculture approved a new rule on Wednesday that would remove nearly 755,000 people from the federal food-stamp program.

The rule was initially proposed in February and spurred tens of thousands of protest letters.

KCBS Radio's Stan Bunger and Susan Leigh Taylor spoke with Lola Fadulu, social policy reporter for The New York Times who wrote about this for the paper on Wednesday.
