The social media app Fizz allows students to sign up for anonymous accounts with their school emails and make posts about their professors, roommates, and more. However, it shouldn't be a surprise that these posts often lean into bullying, racism, and sexism.

Now, San Francisco's Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep is at the center of the controversy after a hateful message was posted to Fizz from a school-associated email.

While apps like Fizz are not new, the prevalence of anonymous, hyperlocal platforms raises the stakes in an ongoing battle to mitigate the impact of social media on young people.
