Insurance commissioner Ricardo Lara kicked off a weeklong tour of the state in Oakland this morning. 

All week, he's promoting the recent expansion of Medi-Cal health coverage to all residents, regardless of immigration status.

But as KCBS Radio's Raquel Maria Dillon reports, expanding health insurance access might be easier than solving the state's home insurance crisis.

In an effort to further tackle the state's homelessness crisis, California is allocating nearly $2 million dollars in new state funds to help people make the transition out of encampments and into permanent housing.
