Automakers have been sharing data on the driving habits of millions of drivers with the insurance sector.

And While many consumers are aware of this practice, a recent case involving General Motors revealed that affected drivers are sometimes not duly informed.

In many cases, it leads to higher insurance premiums for the drivers.
