Energy Expert Used Car To Power Home During PG&E Shutoffs

View descriptionShare

The latest round of PG&E power shutoffs have had Bay Area residents looking to backup generators, solar power and any number of options to keep their lights on.

But it turns out the solution might be sitting in people's garages right now.

Energy expert Severin Borenstein joined KCBS Radio anchors Jeff Bell and Patti Reising to talk about how he used his car to power his home when he lost power for two days.

Borenstein is the faculty director at the Energy Institute at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and a member of the California Independent System Operator Board of Governors.
