New research published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology shows that swiping through online videos to relieve boredom may actually make people disengaged, more bored, and less satisfied.

It's called "digital switching," and while it may increase boredom, it's also been linked to symptoms like anxiety, risk-taking, and aggression.
