Descendant of Montford Point Marines is first Black Marine to become a 4-star general

View descriptionShare

This weekend General Michael E. Langley became the first Black Marine in the service's 246-year history to become a 4-star General which is the Marine Corps most senior rank.

The promotion is especially monumental given General Langley's family ties to the Montford Point Marines who were the first Black recruits to join the service in 1942.

For more, KCBS Radio news anchor Dan Mitchinson is joined by Joe Geeter, Public Relations Officer for the National Montford Point Marine Association.
