Biden to ban menthol cigarettes

View descriptionShare

The Biden administration is expected to move on a ban against menthol cigarettes and flavored mass-produced cigars, an action that has been long awaited by anti-smoking groups. Today is the deadline for the FDA to respond to a 2013 citizen petition for the ban.

Governor Gavin Newsom and Senator Dianne Feinstein have both released statements in support of a ban, noting how menthol cigarettes are marketed to Black Americans and young smokers.

For more, Joelle Lester, Director of Commercial Tobacco Control Programs at the Public Health Law Center at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in Minnesota, joined KCBS Radio news anchor, Stan Bunger.
