Nursing home homicide; scammers ask you to pay up; background checks backlogged

An elderly South Bay woman is being accused of killing her 98-year-old roommate at a nursing facility in Santa Clara.

Alameda residents gathered last night to remember the four victims of a senseless act of mass murder:  four family members shot dead by their father and husband.  

Its happening again: A text message phishing scam telling you your Fastrak toll account is over drawn and you need to click on a link to resolve it. 

Attempts to help formerly incarcerated people get work in California appear to have inadvertently slowed down the state’s background check process, leaving many waiting to hear back about potential jobs.
