NFL players don't know they're suffering from CTE until it's too late

View descriptionShare

It's time now for Ask An Expert—every weekday at 9:20 AM on KCBS we're giving you direct access to top experts in various fields. A new study out this morning shows just how prominent one particular brain disease is—which apparently impacts at least a third of all former NFL players.

This survey on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, also known as CTE, is the broadest of its kind looking at former football players, who are suffering things like suicidal thoughts and Alzheimer's possibly as a result.

To answer those questions and more, KCBS Radio's Margie Shafer and Eric Thomas were joined by Dr. Dan Daneshvar, author on the study and chief of the Brain injury rehabilitation division at Harvard medical school.
