New thriller Perfect Enemy poses tough questions

View descriptionShare

In a covert laboratory under the streets of Tel Aviv, Akiva Cohen, an Israeli scientist, clones Hitler from old samples of his DNA. Akiva wants to change the world for the good; but he is betrayed by those who want to use this new Hitler for unimaginable terror. This is the premise for Alex Sinclair's debut novel, Perfect Enemy, a thriller that takes a deep dive into Israeli society, and raises probing questions about trauma and revenge, the desire for peace, religious extremism, and the schisms of the Middle East. Sinclair is a British-Israeli educator and lecturer who has written and spoken widely on Jewish education, Israel-Diaspora relations, and Israeli politics. He spoke to KAN's Naomi Segal about the book, its resonance in the post October 7th reality, and his foray into fiction-writing.
