Former UN human rights chief and International Court of Justice judge Navi Pillay has been awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

She is best known in Israel as chair of the UN Commission of Inquiry that  concluded last year that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza.

Just a few hours earlier, the US issued fresh sanctions against  the International Criminal Court at The Hague.
