Can Israel overturn the ICC arrest warrants?

View descriptionShare

The International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, has requested the dismissal of Israel's appeal against arrest warrants for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, arguing that the appeal does not meet the criteria for direct appeal under the Rome Statute.

Khan argues that the decision in question is procedural and does not directly address the court's jurisdiction, making it non-appealable under the Rome Statute.

Israel has  appealed the ICC’s decision to issue arrest warrants for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity  in the Gaza war.

KAN's  Mark Weiss spoke with Nick Kaufman,  a defense counsel at the international court at the Hague and a former UN prosecutor. He asked him  what will happen with the Israeli appeal?
