The Sioux Falls Municipal Band, one of the oldest and most prestigious bands in the nation, has been performing without interruption since 1919. The band’s performances begin with the Armed Forces Day Celebration in May each season and continue through early August. Special events include the Flag Day performance at Veterans’ Memorial Park, the Independence Day Celebration, and the Jaycees’ annual 4th of July Celebration.
17,000 people annually attend the Municipal Band concerts which include performances each Sunday, and additional performances during the week.
Band members are selected and compensated for their services.

Pat is a lifelong South Dakotan who was raised in Canton and Yankton. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Political Science from Mount Marty in Yankton. Following graduation, Pat and his wife Emily made Sioux Falls their home, where he is currently an independent contractor for printing sales and she is a registered nurse.

Pat and Emily have two children and provide foster care for an additional daughter. The Starr family is on the go with the children ranging from elementary through college.. They enjoy the park system in Sioux Falls as well as The Old Court House Museum/Pettigrew Home and the Great Plains Zoo. The family is an active member of St. Therese Church in northeast Sioux Falls, and their children attend the Sioux Falls Catholic Schools. Pat also serves on the Board of Directors of Health Connection, Sioux Falls East Kiwanis, and Family Connect. He is also a member of the Oakview Neighborhood Association.

In 2020, Pat was reelected to a second term representing the city’s Northeast District.

Originally from Sisseton, South Dakota Renville got further involved in the Sioux Falls scene in 2022 after spending 18 years focusing on media representation and her political activism. Motivated by the recent need for realistic and relatable community leadership, she feels confident in a run with such historical significance. She will be working hard by focusing on community outreach and campaign recruitment in these weeks to come. 

Renville has dedicated her career to civic engagement and is an advocate for domestic violence victims, Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women, and the Justice Impacted. Allison also served as the Public Information Officer for the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate throughout the pandemic, all very crucial experience she will bring as an At-Large Council member for Sioux Falls.
