The news breaks of Serena Williams announcing her retirement, which will take place following the US Open. Jason says Serena was as dominant at her sport as Tiger Woods was in golf and Michael Phelps was in swimming. Meanwhile, Ron says Kevin Durant’s latest comments suggest that NBA players may have “too much” power. Plus, Ron raises the roof to the “Narco” song.  

David Boclair of SI.com says Roger McCreary may be getting some of Elijah Molden’s reps with Molden out due to injury. David thinks Aaron Brewer has wrapped up the starting LG spot, but there is an open competition at left tackle between Dillon Radunz and Nicholas Petit-Frere. He also mentions how he is looking forward to seeing WR Kyle Phillips in game action. 

The guys continue discussing walk up songs for sports AND life. It is also the triumphant return of “Cuzzo Mike”. Adam Sparks of the Knoxville News Sentinel says it is “realistic” that the Vols will win nine games this season. However, he did mention that they must improve their pass rush and get the rush and pass coverage to combine more often on third downs. He also says the Pitt game is a “must win”.  

Jason and Ramon explain how the “underdog” role may best suit the Titans. Plus, Ramon LOSES HIS MIND to “Narco”, which is the walk-up song for Mets reliever Edwin Diaz. Footage of Diaz walking to the mound as the song plays went viral. (Ramon’s obsession with it drives Jason CRAZY.)

He thinks Ryan Tannehill is at his best when he plays within himself and is “excited” about Derrick Henry’s return to full speed but wonders when Derrick’s game will have to change. 

“The Voice of the Titans” Mike Keith shares the crew’s assessment that training camp has been “encouraging”. Mike thinks Roger McCreary’s potential impact could make it seem as if the Titans had TWO first-round picks in 2022. Plus, Ramon and Jason have a fervent debate about Deshaun Watson and the league’s disciplinary process.

He mentions how the team has been relatively healthy and how that has kept things moving smoothly. Eric Cain of 99.1 The Sports Animal talks about the Vols team quickness, but how he does have some concern over the depth of the secondary and the running back core.  

Ramon decries a smash-and-grab spree that occurred in the parking lot of a recent youth baseball event. Jason points out the lack of handrails in the upper portions of Municipal Auditorium. Shaffer makes fun of himself. 

The guys rhetorically ask: what’s the price of a Super Bowl? The Browns and Dolphins owner Stephen Ross sort of answer that question. Plus, when asked if he would prefer to play a team “at full strength” or one with injury issues, Ramon provides the obvious answer: give me the wounded team! 

Jason and Ramon react to the NFL appealing Deshaun Watson’s six-game suspension. The guys explain how they are surprised the NFL decided to appeal but also how it appears that the league has all the power in this situation. 

Buck gives us his observations from training camp and agrees that Roger McCreary has been of the top performers. He comments on how the offense is starting to find its flow and how he thinks the NFL should pursue further discipline of Deshaun Watson. Jason thinks this season will be Ryan Tannehill’s last with the Titans IF he has a similar playoff performance to the Bengals game. Ron believes that Tannehill will “ball out” this season, but says he has “gotta see it” from Aaron Brewer for Brewer to be the starting left guard.  

Mike thinks that Sue L. Robinson was “correct” in her conclusion of the facts in the Deshaun Watson case but was wrong on the punishment. He openly wonders if the NFL will appeal the ruling partly to avoid further alienating fans.  

Josh provides injury updates from Vols pre-season camp. He speculates on what possible sanctions Tennessee may receive resulting from their Notice of Allegations. He also cites the left tackle position as a source of concern along the Vols offensive line.
