In November 2019 Victorian volunteer firefighters were deployed to Northern NSW – the area where the devastating 2019/20 bushfire season began.

Included in that group were firefighters Luke Summerscales from the Wonga Park Fire Brigade and Jessica Jacobs from the Hoddles Creek Fire Brigade.

They were conducting backburning to prevent further wildfires in the area when their coordinator, John, fell to the ground and experienced a severe heart attack.

Luke & Jess were the first responders and what happened next is worthy of a Hollywood film.
