Forget the renaissance, it's time for an 'Imran-aissance'! For the first time on HIAW we're discussing not one but TWO films on an episode starring our favourite chocolate boy of the 2000's & 2010's: Imran Khan. The two films are Shakun Batra's 'Ek Main aur Ekk Tu' starring Imran and Kareena Kapoor and Danish Aslam's 'Break Ke Baad' where Imran's leading lady was Deepika Padukone. To talk about the movies with us it's the return of film and TV critic Suchin Mehrotra. Yes, we got him to talk about non-blue people this time (to get that reference check out the episode we did with him on 'Avatar'). Topics discussed include: What made Imran special? What happened to the romantic chocolate boy in Hindi cinema? Did we not appreciate "frothy" cinema while we had it? The subtle portrayal of modern parenting in both films, how the leading ladies had more substantial roles in Imran's films, how the two films are similar and different, and a lot more.
