I’m Bill Zortman and Welcome to our Working on Wellness Wednesday—yes quite the gathering of medical topics and issues that we face in our everyday lives---

Dr. Tim Ridgway is the Vice President of Health Affairs of the USD Sanford School of Medicine. He told us a week ago we would be talking with some new voices and faces—and this week it’s Dr. Betsy Becker—the new Dean of Health Services as USD---

Dr. Becker joined the USD School of Health Sciences at the end of July. Her hometown is Laurel Nebraska---

Dr. Becker shared your mom still lives there and probably is listening today---and her favorite memory is water skinning on Lewis and Clark Lake by Yankton (((605-658-6500)

    Topics for discussion---

  • What brought you to USD---

  • Appreciation for the support and leadership of Dr. Tim Ridgway

How is the School of Health Sciences helping address South Dakota’s workforce needs?

  • Educating future healthcare professionals-nurses, physician assistants, social work, occupational therapy and dental hygiene
  • Clinical experiences across the state
  • Partnerships with hospitals, clinics, schools and communities
  • Focus on improving access to care, especially in rural areas

What makes education unique to be ready for future patients and clients?

    Prevention---staying healthy

    Interprofessional learning

    Simulation and hands-on experience

Faculty experts and community clinical partners

Professionalism, ethics, patient safety, and leadership development

Yuske Imamura---shared a salute to Dr. Jordee who appears in this show twice a month----and the salute involves back pain relief reporting

We work with dozens of facilities just like his to help hem scale and fill up their appointment calendars month after month.

Super confident we can do this and did for Jorde Chirpractic Clinic based on “our initial Research.

We prefer to work on a performance-basis with qualifying clients

In a nutshell—we get the Clinic new business or he doesn’t pay for the report

So looking at your report to us—so what qualified Dr. Jorde as someone that could be qualified

--------Yuske----------

What do you think Dr. Jorde will say when he joins us in a couple of weeks on our Working on Wellness Wednesday Show?

----------Yuske------

       What is a DSP?

  • Think about what it means to work for an organization that provides and prioritizes quality of life, dignity, choices, relationships and meaningful lives for people with disabilities
  • DSP’s provide personal care to people with disabilities, including help with hygiene, dressing and meals
  • They provide household support for our 18 homes in Sioux Falls, like cleaning and cooking following dietary restrictions
