   Welcome Back to It’s YOUR Business---the Friday facts, fun, and figuring-----

Saturday

The Downtown Loft Tour is back Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and if you've ever wondered what it would actually be like to live Downtown, this is your chance to find out.

This year's tour is part of the Lloyd Parade of Apartments and includes five Downtown properties: One2, The District Lofts, Uptown Exchange Lofts, Phillips Avenue Lofts, and The Cascade at The Steel District.

I talk a lot about Downtown as the best place to live, work and play, and residential growth is a huge piece of where we're headed. More people living Downtown means more customers walking to our restaurants and retailers, more activity throughout the week, and ultimately a stronger neighborhood. It also means more community, more connection, and more convenience.

So even if you're not actively apartment hunting, I'd encourage you to come explore. It's a chance to get inside some of these buildings, see different parts of Downtown from a completely different perspective, and maybe discover that Downtown living is closer than you thought.

And while you're out, make a day of it. Grab breakfast or coffee beforehand, tour a few properties, then stick around for lunch.

Saturday afternoon and evening have plenty more happening. Masquerade has performances at the Orpheum Theater, Stacks & Steins brings an Oktoberfest celebration to the Holiday Inn City Centre from 5:00 to 9:00, and Juke the Tiger plays underground at Myrtle's Speakeasy beginning at 9:00.

Sunday

You have another opportunity to catch Masquerade Sunday afternoon at 4:00.

Then Sunday night, country fans have a big one: Jo Dee Messina takes the stage at the Washington Pavilion at 7:00.

But my challenge this weekend is simple: come see what it's like to live Downtown. The Downtown Loft Tour runs Saturday from 10:00 to 1:00, and then stick around and experience the neighborhood those residents get to call home every day.

And..... a quick preview for next weekend: Saturday, October 3 is going to be a big morning Downtown. The Festival of Bands Parade returns to Phillips Avenue, while the South Dakota Festival of Books brings authors, readers and programming into the heart of Downtown.

Two great events bringing a lot of people Downtown at the same time. Plan ahead, come early, and make a morning of it. This is one you don't want to miss.
