Blog—September 25, 2024-9-10—Working on Wellness WEDNESDAY-Show 4600
Yes Show 4,600 in our It’s YOUR Business Series---and we had a few important wrinkles for our audience.
We started with maybe the BEST EDUCATED Tree Talker in South Dakota. John Ball---Mr. Tree talked to us from Texas---and he issued some warnings for the trees and those that own them and count on them.
While in Texas—we shared the fact that we have some Emerald Ash Borers that are in danger---and one by one---you need to check. The audio from John Ball gives you some direction---listen to it---as we started this landmark 4,600th show.
You should look at all your trees---see if they are diseased in anyway---and take action if necessary. If you have questions a John Ball—or tree specialist can talk to you ---about disease—is it spreading---and listen to Mr. Tree for his suggestions of what makes the most sense to plant.
We talked as well with Dr. Allison Tendler—about October 3rd—@ART Vision for an insightful seminar on cataracts—designed to help you understand the causes, symptoms and latest treatment options for cataracts.
Dr. Tendler will share her knowledge on how modern cataract surgery and innovative vision-correcting lenses can help you achieve clearer vision. Whether you are exploring treatment options for yourself or a loved one the seminar will provide valuable information to guide you thru the journey to better vision.
As we talked—do it and you shouldn’t have to do it again—we talked in our interview about making sure you take care of business—take care of your eyes and make darn sure that you can see. You may not have to wonder again if it is needed.
Dr. Tendler even answered my questions about the glasses---what you need to be doing---and it makes sense to do it before you got off on vacation. If you are going to have an insightful seminar---do it HERE—not somewhere else.
Next up---a visit with Dr. Joshua Jorde----we talked about that even though most of the leaves have fallen---there is a definite change—that can threaten you and possible falls. This year isn’t an exception and there are all kinds of stories about the falls that are already happening. Dr. Jorde wants to make sure you are taken care of. He doesn’t want injuries—but if you are having some problem because of a fall----get it taken care of. It might be the upper back or lower back and you could be coughing or sneezing—and if that is too hard –you have just added to the list.
Suggestions are that to avoid the cold and flu in general—vitamins and minerals can be added to your preventive plan.
Vitamin D—is a major player in the immune system and is often overlooked. Don’t forget Vitamin C and of course the zinc and iron and yes Vitamin E.
DR. Jordee also reports that if you are having physical aches and pains—it is usually better to get an adjustment before something happens. When working in the garden—even in the fall---it is important to work out and stretch, take breaks to stay limber.
Dr. Jordee and his companion chiropractors can make the cold winter months more tolerable—but you have to make sure you are taking care of business as well.
Mary Michaels—AARP joined us---we talked about Fall Prevention Awareness—more than 25% of adults age 65 and older fall each year. It is important to understand the risk factors contributing to falls and preventing them—but also to not be so fearful of falling that it actually causes us to stop moving.
Make sure you work on your own health---building muscle strength with resistance training—as well as working on balance thru things like yoga or tai chi.
Take care of your vision and hearing have regular checkups because clouded vision or impaired hearing can contribute to falls.
We closed the show with another look at the October 3rd event---and how Dr. Tendler can make a major difference.
